Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former coach Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has secured 21 victories at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He rescued four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, he clinched the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
